Westbound roadwork delays and evening eastbound backups slowed bridge traffic.
Westbound roadwork closed the right lane through early afternoon, creating delays that stretched 2.5 miles back to Exit 39A (Castle Marina Road) by 2:02 PM. Eastbound delays peaked at 19 minutes during the evening commute, backing up traffic 2.5 miles to Exit 30 (Bay Head Road) before two-way operations were initiated. Two-way traffic with three eastbound and two westbound lanes was phased in before ending by 5:12 PM, returning conditions to normal for the night.
