Chesapeake Bay Bridge delays peaked Friday afternoon due to a disabled vehicle.
Early morning wind restrictions prohibited house trailers and empty box trailers between 12:47 AM and 1:17 AM due to sustained winds of 40 to 49 mph. Eastbound traffic saw heavy holiday volume and an earlier disabled vehicle, backing up 3.5 miles to Exit 29A by late afternoon. Westbound traffic faced the worst gridlock when a disabled vehicle reduced travel to a single lane around 1:13 PM, triggering a 5.4-mile backup past Exit 42 at Kent Narrows. Both directions returned to normal flow by 7:42 PM.
