Heavy Friday beach traffic triggered six-mile eastbound backups
Friday afternoon traffic brought heavy delays in both directions while the span operated with three eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes. Eastbound backups reached 6 miles back to the Severn River Bridge between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM, driving travel times to 30 minutes. Westbound delays spanned up to 4.5 miles to Exit 41 (Kent Narrows) through mid-afternoon. All delays cleared by 7:32 PM after two-way traffic operations ended.
