Heavy Sunday delays peaked with a 12.6-mile westbound backup
Overnight roadwork forced two-way traffic onto the westbound span until morning. Eastbound travel times peaked at 32 minutes around 1:00 PM with a 5.5-mile backup stretching to Exit 27 (Ritchie Highway). Westbound congestion peaked during the afternoon return rush, creating a 12.6-mile backup to Bloomingdale Road by 3:23 PM. All delays cleared by 9:02 PM following a brief right lane closure for a disabled vehicle near Exit 38A.
