Midday Sunday backups hit 4.5 miles eastbound and 2.5 miles westbound
Eastbound traffic experienced heavy delays between 11:42 AM and 4:20 PM, peaking at a 34-minute travel time at noon following a right-lane closure for a disabled vehicle near Exit 29a (Bush Frontage Road). The day's worst delays peaked between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, generating a 4.5-mile eastbound backup to Exit 28 (Bay Dale Drive) and a 2.5-mile westbound backup to Exit 39a (Castle Marina Road). Westbound travelers also encountered heavy delays along US 50 prior to Maryland 404 and on the approach to the Severn River Bridge, though all bridge approaches returned to normal by 4:27 PM.
