Crash and Lane Closures Trigger Massive Saturday Delays in Both Directions
Westbound delays began mounting after 10 a.m. and stretched to 5.4 miles by late morning. A mid-day crash and subsequent lane closures caused severe gridlock in both directions, backing up eastbound traffic for 4.5 miles to Exit 28 (Bay Dale Drive) and westbound traffic for 7.0 miles to Exit 43b (Chester River Beach Road) between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Conditions finally cleared by 5:12 p.m., with travel times returning to normal in both directions.
