Daily recap

Daytime lane closures and off-bridge collisions disrupt Thursday commute

6 advisoriesPeak EB 156mPeak WB 11m

Eastbound commuters faced significant delays late Thursday morning when a right-lane closure for roadwork triggered a 4.5-mile backup stretching to Exit 28 (Bay Dale Drive), driving travel times up to 27 minutes. Later in the afternoon, peak commuter traffic was further impacted by collisions near the Severn River Bridge, causing eastbound delays that started at Exit 23 (Maryland 450) and backed up 3.1 miles. While the Bay Bridge itself cleared by early evening, overnight roadwork reduced bridge operations to a single lane in each direction by 11:12 PM.
