Midday Roadwork Causes 2.5-Mile Eastbound Backups on Bay Bridge
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge experienced routine overnight lane closures, but daytime roadwork triggered notable midday delays. Eastbound traffic backed up 2.5 miles to Exit 30 (Whitehall Road) by 1:57 PM, pushing eastbound travel times to a peak of 19 minutes. These delays began around 11:50 AM with a 1.5-mile backup to Exit 31 while the westbound left lane was closed for maintenance. Normal traffic flow resumed by 4:02 PM with all lanes open.
