Midday lane closures trigger multi-mile backups on Bay Bridge

Midday travelers faced notable delays as eastbound queues reached three miles from Exit 29b (Kate St. Clair Road) and westbound backups stretched 1.8 miles from Shopping Center Road around 12:00 PM. Eastbound travel times peaked at 22 minutes, while westbound peak travel times hit 15 minutes. By 2:12 PM, eastbound delays were reduced to one mile from Exit 32 (Sandy Point) with three eastbound lanes open, and all backups cleared by 6:22 PM before overnight roadworks transitioned the bridge into two-way operations.

    The eastbound bridge is closed for road work. Traffic is currently operating in a two-way configuration on the westbound bridge, with one lane open eastbound and one lane open westbound. The center lane on the westbound bridge is closed to serve as a buffer.
