The Bay Bridge experienced two distinct waves of congestion on Thursday, July 9, highlighted by an evening rush hour where eastbound traffic backed up 4.5 miles to Exit 28 (Bay Dale Drive) at 7:22 p.m., driving peak travel times to 28 minutes. Earlier in the day, a late morning eastbound backup of 3 miles stretched to Exit 29b (Cape Saint Claire Road) at 11:12 a.m. Westbound commuters faced minor afternoon delays peaking at 12 minutes, with backups extending 0.6 miles from the bridge to the Exit 37 Route 8 overpass.
