Westbound delays reached four miles Saturday during afternoon lane shifts.
Westbound traffic backed up four miles to Exit 48 (South Piney Creek Road) between 1:27 PM and 2:42 PM as crews discontinued two-way operations. Westbound delays returned from 6:01 PM to 7:32 PM, queuing 1.8 miles back to Shopping Center Road with travel times peaking at 19 minutes. Eastbound traffic saw only a brief 1.5-mile delay to Exit 31 (Whitehall Road) around noon, before overnight maintenance closed the eastbound bridge at 11:47 PM.
