Bay Bridge Sunday Delays Reach Peak 5.5 Miles Eastbound and 6.6 Miles Westbound
Overnight roadwork restricted traffic to a two-way single-lane pattern until early morning. Heavy weekend congestion built by midday, resulting in a peak 5.5-mile eastbound backup to Exit 27 (Ritchie Highway) and a 6.6-mile westbound backup to Exit 43A (Jackson Creek Road) between 1:58 PM and 3:13 PM. Eastbound travel times peaked at 33 minutes at 2:00 PM before all major delays cleared by 4:57 PM despite a brief left-lane closure from a crash.
