Brief evening delays and high sustained winds hit the bridge Wednesday.
Evening lane restrictions caused a quick burst of congestion around 5:48 PM, producing a 1.8-mile westbound queue from Shopping Center Road and a 1.5-mile eastbound backup to Exit 31 (Whitehall Road). Travel times peaked at 18 minutes westbound and 14 minutes eastbound during the 5:00 PM hour. A wind warning with sustained speeds between 30 and 39 mph took effect before 6:00 PM and remained active through midnight. Backups cleared completely by 6:27 PM.
