High Winds overnight and Double-Sided Peak Commute Delays Affect Bay Bridge
The bridge was under strict wind restrictions from 12:57 AM to 6:12 AM due to sustained winds of 40 to 49 mph, prohibiting wind-vulnerable vehicles. Later in the morning, a disabled vehicle closed the left eastbound lane at 8:07 AM, generating a 3-mile backup to Exit 29B (Cape Saint Claire Road). During the evening peak between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM, delays impacted both directions, including a 3.5-mile eastbound backup to Exit 29A (Busch Frontage Road) and a 2.5-mile westbound backup to Exit 39A (Castle Marina Road).
