Mid-day roadwork caused significant 4.5-mile eastbound backups.
Overnight two-way traffic on the westbound span ended before roadwork resumed mid-day, leading to heavy congestion. Eastbound delays peaked at 4.5 miles starting at Exit 28 (Bay Dale Drive) around 12:30 p.m., resulting in travel times of 26 minutes. Westbound motorists also encountered a 1.8-mile backup at Shopping Center Road at noon and 0.6-mile delays near Exit 37 (Route 8) during the 5:00 p.m. hour.
